Things a Thirty-Year-Old Knows...

This picture just makes me laugh - you should never take yourself too seriously!
This is "Contemplative Jo."

1. I feel like I am a lot smarter now than when I was 25. I hope in 5 years I will be a lot smarter at 35 than I am at 30 and so on. I think the whole idea in life is to keep learning and growing so it isn't a bad thing to not be as smart today as you will be tomorrow.

2. Worrying about the past is time that you are wasting in the present. Forgive, forget, and move on... even though this is a lot easier said than done.

3. Sometimes you can't choose your family, but you can choose your friends. Choose wisely because my friends can be the reason for the best days of my year and I also try to be a dependable friend to them.

4. If you don’t like who you are or where your life is headed, change it, one thing at a time and as quickly as possible. This is actually something in our world that is in your control, and life is short.

5. I realize now more than ever that no toy can ever replace the time I was able to spend with my parents as a kid. What we lacked in material goods was made up for in time, time that molded me into the adult I am today.

Cabo Review

Cabo San Lucas is located on the very tip of the Baja Peninsula and between this peninsula and Mexico's mainland is the Sea of Cortez. You have only 5% chance of a cloudy day so the weather is sure to please! You also feel very welcome and safe and could even drink the water right out of the tap at our resort (which came in handy with 3am cottonmouth resulting from too much tequila).

It isn't a cheap place to go, but not completely unreasonable either. The downtown isn't very large which makes it so nice because you know exactly where to go for great nightlife... Cabo Wabo! We also went to Gigglin' Marlin and had a great time as well. This is where they will string you up by your ankles and give you a tequila shot!

Cabo is a GREAT place to go offshore fishing. It takes no time at all to get to deep water and it is very reasonably priced. There was a blue and black marlin fishing tournament going on right before we got there and we had a blue on our line!... until the line snapped :(

I got to see a seal swimming by the harbor, baby sea turtles let go into the ocean, hummingbirds, giant moths, and a ton of fish, so the wildlife is abundant. If I went back I think I would want to go on a snorkel excursion in the sea of cortez. My husband and I spent excursion money on a couple's massage this time. ;)

All in all, it was a great way to see Mexico as an "adult" (I went to Cancun when I was 18, and that is the best choice for that age I am guessing! haha). I love seeing different places so I don't know if I would go back or not, but I would recommend it to anyone looking for a getaway completely different from where they live, but not too far away and not too much of a hassle.

Happy 10th Birthday to my niece, McKenzie!

Happy Birthday Darling niece McKenzie! You are so smart, witty, and a joy to be around. I enjoyed your birthday picnic with you in the park! And before anyone jumps to conclusions, that is GRAPE JUICE! What kind of an aunt do you think I am? haha :)

Countdown Expired...

Back to life, back to reality! This is my first Monday back home from a week long trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, and I just saw on my iGoogle page that my "30th Birthday Countdown" has expired as of September 28th. In all actuality, so far, my 30s have been great! Below is how that particular weekend went down...

My actual birthday dinner with my hubby at Husk!

...and my sisters were there too :)

Partying continues with a fun girls night! [my sisters and I]

My other best girlfriends joined in for dinner and drinks at La Fourchette.

My Best Friend Katie even came to town!

...and after this was taken, the photos are no longer available for public viewing. :)

The weekend ended with a party at the beach house that my sisters and best friend, and I rented for the weekend out on Folly Beach, SC. We had a blast! It isn't all too often that both of my sisters and I are together, add my best friend to that mix and I really had the best birthday ever!

Thanks to everyone who came. I am so blessed to have so many great friends and family members! Love you all!

No Bacon?!?

Thought this was funny and that I would share! A lot has been going on... turning 30, headed to Mexico this weekend, and I am actually super busy at a job that I love so I am quite blessed! But Lord, don't take away this girl's bacon!

Hope to post more soon! Pics to come :)
